On the third day of meetings, the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development reviewed progress made to achieve Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 13, climate action, and its links with the other SDGs. Forum participants also discussed the outcome of the Fourth Conference on Small Island Developing States held in June in Antigua and Barbuda.
On the second day of the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, delegates and experts focused on sustainable, resilient and innovative solutions to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.
The High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development began today. Held under the auspices of the Economic and Social Council, it will run through 17 July.

Meeting jointly under the theme “The development and peace dimensions of forced displacement: Countries’ best practices in creating durable solutions”, the Economic and Social Council and the Peacebuilding Commission today heard that addressing the needs of refugees and internally displaced persons requires a holistic approach that goes beyond the mere provision of humanitarian aid.

The Economic and Social Council concluded its 2024 management segment this morning with a discussion to integrate key messages from its subsidiary bodies and the UN system on the Council’s main theme, develop action-oriented recommendations for follow-up and feed into the high-level political forum on sustainable development (as mandated by GA resolution 75/290 A).
The Economic and Social Council today opened its 2024 management segment today taking up items including: economic and environmental questions; coordination, programme and other questions; the role of the United Nations system in the integration of the three dimensions of sustainable development into the implementation of and follow-up to the 2030 Agenda; implementation of and follow-up to major UN conferences; non-governmental organizations; summits; organizational and other matters; and elections, nominations, confirmations and appointments.
The Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations continued its 2024 resumed session today, taking up responses to questions on deferred applications. The Committee also reviewed the provisional agenda for its 2025 session, as well as the skeleton report for its current session.
